Jude Law and Elton John at Peace One Day Concert for UN International Day of Peace

It's not every day you get to participate or play a part in world history, but last night I was privileged and humbled to be in such great company as a Patron of Peace One Day being able to support them in their great endeavours.

Yesterday was September 21st, the United Nations International Day of Peace, created and instigated by Jeremy Gilley, the founder of the non-profit organisation Peace One Day. His singular effort alone brought this day into existence, and since then he has worked tirelessly to institutionalize the day so that everyone on the planet knows about it.

I think he's done an incredible job so far and the concert last night was a testament to just the kind of support he is getting. Over 9,000 people joined us in Wembley Arena to celebrate the day as we enjoyed music and commentary from James Morrison, Lily Cole, Jeremy Gilley, Jude Law, The 2 Cellos and of course Elton John.

the rule of contribution

Something I've always talked about when it come to entrepreneurship is the need to give back to society and contribute to something you believe in. This very act of contribution often comes back to you, call it karma, luck or fate, but when you start to open you world up to helping others, you find that others want to help you back.

Personally I can attest to this. Having been a Patron of Peace One Day and also a mentor for the Princes Trust, I've had many more opportunities open up to me. If you've read one of my previous posts about Arnold Schwarzenegger's 6 rules of success, you'll know that his last rule is also "Give Back".

It's important that when you get to a place where you have the ability to help others, that you do so. Find yourself a cause that you believe in and do what you can to help them.

If you'd like to find out more about Peace One Day and perhaps how you can become a Patron as well, please let me know and I will put you in touch with the right people.
