A fundamental issue of impossibility?

We live in such interesting times and something that I often discuss with friends and colleagues is the reality of how unable we are as human beings to adapt and live in these times.

What I mean by this is that in our current age, we have more technology that helps us to supposedly do things quicker and better, but our very own engineering, our internal mind and physical human form, isn’t moving anywhere near as fast as technology is.

Our human forms are actually not designed to live in this day and age, in fact we are so far behind that it’s no surprise that I think at some point in order for the human race to catch up with technology, we will have to augment ourselves with technology.

It’s already happening with more medical technology than ever before, keeping more people alive and helping us all to monitor, repair and treat anything that might cause us to get sick.

Theoretically if medical science just carried on at the same pace, humans will just keep getting older and maintain better health, making us all live longer. If we project this out to 1000 years from now, how long do you think people will live? Is there a limit?

Maybe we will all live to 200 years old then.

What you might think as absolutely impossible and outside reality now, is only a matter of time before it becomes possible. So why not start today and believe that anything is possible?

The only barriers are ourselves. I meet a lot of people through friends, networking and business, and there are those that most people would classify as successful, and those that most people would classify as not.

What is evident is that those who are successful, seem to have this ability to believe that anything is possible. There’s a knack to it, it’s called not letting society or people around you, get you down, and tell you it’s not possible. How many parents tell their children this.

I fundamentally believe that anything is possible. So did the Wright Bros, Henry Ford, Einstein and many others whom without their conviction, we would not have flight, cars or the numerous advances in science and technology borne from Einstein’s work.

I’ve had many people agree that it’s fundamentally possible to create a society that doesn’t have offices, and there have been a few who believe that it’s impossible for one reason or another. What’s interesting is that those who agree it’s possible, tend to be quote on quote “successful”, and those who believe it’s impossible, well, they have their own things to get over which is why they aren’t as successful as perhaps they want to be.

The only question this blog article is asking you to consider is, where do you come from? Is your starting position a place of possibility or impossibility?

How you start is how you finish. What are your thoughts around this?

The August 6th 2011 New Scientist carried a story about a study that suggests human aging SLOWS DOWN after we reach 90 years of age. The study measured the death rate per year of people over the age of 90. While the death rate climbs for the rest of your life up to that time, it seems if you survive to 90 the chances of natural death plateau – so that people 108 years old, die at almost the same rate as 90 year olds.
