If you said to someone 100 years ago that they could be travelling at over 100mph with hundreds of other people at the same time in the same transport, they would call you a crazy man. If you said to someone 20 years ago you could be communicating with anyone at anytime from anywhere, they’d say you were crazy too.
If you told someone 5 years ago that you could connected to all your friends in real time, and have the ability to video chat with them on a train moving at 100mph, they would probably say, ok it’s possible, but maybe in 10 years time. I just got off a video Skype call with a friend in Singapore.
I’m currently moving at over 100mph on a virgin train on my way to an interview at the BBC studios in Manchester. Technology and innovation is moving faster that most people can possibly imagine. The barriers to doing things that might be seemingly impossible today, will be bashed down in years or maybe months. The lesson to learn is that nothing is truly impossible.
If you can believe that it’s possible, then you can make it happen. Opportunities come to those who keep an open mind about exploring all chances. When you keep you mind open, you allow your mind to hear what is actually being said around you. This in turn means that you will become a better listener, allowing the judgemental mind to pass without recognition.
We all know that our own judgemental minds have often times been wrong about people, but how often do we just shut it off? Try it sometime, it can be quite the personal learning lesson. This is really about the notion of possibilities. People use the words, “can’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t” more than they know they should! If the Wright brothers listened to the naysayers about flight, then maybe we wouldn’t have air travel today.
If Edison gave up and said he can’t, whilst he was going through his thousands of times of testing on the first lightbulb, we might not have light and electricity in the form we know today. If you want to be a visionary, to stand out and have something to say that will change the world forever, you’ve gotta believe in it to the extent that no matter what other people say, you know you can do it. However you want to be successful in your lives, it all starts with self belief, responsibility and honesty with oneself.
