Ok, so it goes without saying that whatever you are trying to do, be that building a business or perhaps upgrading some part of your personal values, it’ll come with change, and perhaps lots of it.
Change is a scary word to a lot of people. I’ve seen close family and friends get paralysed by the mere thought of change and I mean stuck for months and in some cases years. It’s staggering to watch years of paralysis just because the fear of the unknown is so deep that the person might not even realise it.
Nevertheless, this post is about success and a big realisation that one of the key factors to success is being able to put aside your pride, humility, lack of understanding, or whatever is the lack, and do something that you don’t want to do in order to succeed.
Take building a new startup business. There are many tasks to success in a new startup, especially when you are going it alone at the very beginning, and I’ve seen in many of my successful entrepreneur friends that the key difference they show is that they are prepared to take on the tasks that they absolutely hate.
That could be the accounting, yuck! Or web design, which for many people is a real sticking point. For some people, I include myself in this category, it’s sales. I absolutely hate sales and it’s a weakness I readily admit, but even though I despise that whole topic and area, and to be frank I’m crap at it, I still did it. I knew that in order to build my original Lady Luck Media business I had to get involved with sales and selling.
That meant every part of the sale, from selling the services on offer, to promoting myself as the person with the skills to make it work. It’s simply a part of business and without tackling it I would not have had any success at all. Luckily (I don’t believe in luck), I did it.
It’s the same in personal life too, if you want to make bold decisions in your life direction and move forward towards your real goals, it’s inevitably going to involve doing things you most probably REALLY REALLY don’t want to do, but guess what, YOU HAVE TO DO IT ANYWAYS.
So today’s short message is this, if you are looking just for one thing to take away today from your investment of a few minutes reading this post, it’s just this, go and do that thing you’ve been putting off for ages because you simply don’t want to do it.
Tackle that job or decision that you’ve brushed aside because it’s too daunting, and once you’ve done it, tell me you don’t feel good and perhaps 1 step closer to your true honest goal!
Et voila – as Raymond Blanc would say. I wonder what he had to do that was totally outside his comfort zone in order to achieve so much. If you know, post it below!
