It’s probably the hottest day of the year today and I suspect being late in August, this might be the hottest time of this year.
I think one of the most interesting things about the sun, especially in the UK is that it brings people out and there is an overemphasis of value placed on being “out”. This is because of course we don’t get beautiful sun here that often, and as humans, we crave what we don’t have.
If you went to live in Spain where there is a lot of sun all year round, you’d probably get tired of it after a while and then you’ll be craving things live ice cream, or a decent fan, or air conditioning.
So this blog is really just a quick check on what do you deem most valuable and perhaps it might give you an insight into whether or not your mindset is geared to win.
You see, there are those people who will use any reason to not work the extra day, then there are those people who will work all the extra days they can. Just like many of the Olympic athletes recently competing in London, I’m sure that during their peak training when they were going for it, they would not take a day off no matter what the weather circumstances were, bright sun, or freezing cold rain. They are winners, they have that mindset to do what is required.
Equally in business there are those with exactly the same attitude. It soon becomes clear who is dedicated to winning in their life, and who is not.
When you can place the value of one bright day of sun over your lifelong success and happiness, therefore putting the short term gain over the long term benefits, then with that mindset you’ll be destined to lose.
That is not to say that a day’s rest isn’t beneficial and worth valuing, it absolutely is. However, understanding the reasons why, are more important than taking the day off itself. You see, if you get why, then you’ve mastered awareness of your own values, and you’ve mastered managing your own values.
That is perhaps one of the biggest step forward you can take, when you are taking responsibility for your own life and happiness.
