It’s been around for a while, however I thought it would be useful to tell more people about Echosign which is a service provided by Adobe and effectively it eliminates the need to have paper based contracts and signings.
Echosign is an online electronic signature service where you can upload your documents in various formats and then you can send them to other people to get electronically signed.
What a fantastic idea!
First thing you might be thinking of is whether or not these signatures are unique and acceptable, after all the point of signing pen to paper is considered to be unique and nearly impossible to forge.
Truth of the matter though is that signatures using pen and paper are easy to forge now, and electronic signatures are much harder to forge. So how does it work? Well it’s pretty complex and I admit I don’t really know the nitty gritty details, however I do know that essentially it creates a unique electronic audit trail between all the different communications of signing parties, and with that unique communications trace, it can produce an electronic record which is unique.
Anyways, I can say that it has been extremely useful for me and my business to enable us to virtually eliminate paper based signing. Here’s a few ways in which I use electronic signatures:
- Contract signing
- Approval forms
- Payments and remittances
- Completing questionnaires
One of the biggest benefits I’ve found is that documents get signed a lot faster than they do when I had to post paper contracts. In fact I’ve had time when contracts get signed within minutes.
Give it a go today, go paperless and embrace the new way of working!
